City Club has a democratic relationship with its membership—our members don’t just participate, they help steer the organization’s priorities. That includes shaping the topics we explore in our public programs, informing the direction of our research, and electing the Board of Governors to help keep us mission-focused.
Each year, the Nominating Committee presents a slate of board candidates, and members vote to approve it. It’s a vital part of what makes City Club truly member-led.
If your membership has lapsed—or if you’ve never been a member—now is the perfect time to join or renew and take part in this important process. Your membership must be current as of May 14, 2025 to vote in the 2025 Board Election.
Members, here’s how you can engage in the Board Election process:
1. Review Proposed Candidates
After a month of outreach, application reviews, and conversations with potential board members, the Nominating Committee has announced the proposed slate for the 2025–2026 Board of Governors. Candidates who would be new to the board are in bold.

2. Nominate Yourself or a Fellow Member
Members can still nominate themselves or another member for the board slate by submitting a petition.
Petitions must include:
- The candidate’s name
- The position they are running for
- Confirmation from the candidate that they are willing to run
- Signatures from ten current City Club members
Petitions must be emailed to info@pdxcityclub.org or mailed to 221 NW 2nd Avenue, #213, Portland, OR 97209 by May 14.
3. Attend the Annual Meeting
Thursday, May 29, 5:00–7:30 PM
Location provided upon RSVP
The Annual Meeting is a chance to reflect, look ahead, socialize, and celebrate the contributions of our community. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet some of the board nominees in person. The speaking program will run from 6:00 to 7:00 PM and will be livestreamed and recorded.

4. Vote in the Election
To vote in the 2025 election, your membership must be current as of May 14. Eligible members will receive an electronic ballot by email, so make sure you’re subscribed to our email list using your preferred address.
Voting will begin at the close of the Annual Meeting (8:00 PM on May 29) and will remain open through 11:59 PM on May 31, 2025.
