City Club explores Charter Reform

On May 15, 2007, Portland voters will be asked to decide four measures, each proposing changes to Portland’s city charter. City Club studied two of the measures: Measure 26-91, which would amend the city charter to change Portland's form of government, and Measure 26-92, which would restate the mission of the Portland Development Commission and increase oversight of PDC by City Council.

City Club members voted on April 20 to adopt the two ballot measure reports. The report on Measure 26-91 was adopted by a vote of 98-12, and the report on Measure 26-92 was adopted by a vote of 86-0, both affirming the conclusions and recommendations of the two volunteer research committees that studied the measures. As a result of the vote, City Club recommends a vote of “No” on both measures.
