Deane Funk

Title:
Governor

Deane Funk, governor, is manager of local government affairs for Portland General Electric, overseeing the local government function in the six county territory served by PGE. In 1988, six years after graduating from the University of Southern California, Dean went to PGE to propose a technology transfer project which would introduce Swedish energy-efficiency and secondary wood products manufacturing to Oregon’s transitioning economy. This ultimately led to the founding of Pacific Century Homes in 1990. His interest was in public policy, so he remained with PGE, managing government affairs issues. He managed PGE’s anti-Public Utility District (PUD) campaign in Multnomah County in 2003, and oversaw the on-going anti-PUD campaigns in several counties.

Deane has served on an array of public policy boards throughout the Willamette Valley, including the METRO 2040 Means Business committee, the Basic Rights Oregon board and the Policy Council for the Oregon Childcare Resource and Referral Network. Currently Deane serves on the boards of Travel Portland and the East Metro Economic Alliance.
