Membership has its benefits!

For less than $14 a month, (or just $7 a month if you’re 30 or younger) membership connects you to your city and fellow citizens, gives you a voice in government, and offers you both serious and fun ways to learn about the issues.

In addition to the benefits listed below, perhaps the best benefit of membership is that when you say, “I’m a member of City Club,” you are countering a culture of talking heads and unproductive arguments. You convey to your colleagues, friends, neighbors and elected officials that you value civil discourse and believe an informed citizenry benefits the community.

Friday Forums

The Friday Forum is the hallmark of the City Club of Portland. Broadcast on radio and cable television, this weekly public forum offers members the opportunity to listen to and exchange ideas with speakers who address issues on a wide spectrum of topics, from policy and government to education and the arts.

As a City Club member, you may:

  • Attend Oregon’s most respected public affairs forums for free.
  • Receive a $5 discount on Friday Forum luncheon tickets for yourself and up to two guests per week.
  • Be introduced in front of the Club at a Friday Forum and network with influential civic leaders.
  • Have the opportunity to ask questions at Friday Forums.

Research & Advocacy

Timely, respected and balanced, City Club research continues to be an invaluable source of unbiased information and a force for civic change.

As a City Club member, you may:

  • Conduct the research and write the reports that become part of Oregon history.
  • Discuss committee findings and vote to adopt or reject the recommendations of each report.
  • Participate in City Club advocacy activities.

Publications

New members start receiving the weekly eBulletin within a few days of joining. The eBulletin features upcoming events, Club news, historical tidbits, volunteer opportunities and articles about issues of public significance.

City Club members also receive:

  • Club research and information reports.
  • City Club's annual report.

Leadership Development

Opportunities abound at City Club for committed individuals to assume leadership roles side by side with veteran community leaders. Whether researching a topic or planning a community event, Club members learn about the process and people that affect change in Oregon.  You can learn more about current leadership opportunities by checking out the Get Involved page.

Increase your understanding of the issues affecting Portland, the nation and the global community.
