Dear Citizens,

City Club’s role as convener of the community’s most important conversations will be center stage again this year as a new round of elections dominates the political landscape. Races for Oregon’s First Congressional District, Portland mayor and two Portland city council seats have the potential to change local politics. 

At times like these, City Club’s forums for civil discussion, analysis and debate are vital to moving beyond sound bites and making informed choices to tackle the tough challenges and changes facing our community.

You can count on City Club for Friday Forum candidate debates and citizen-led ballot measure studies, as well as in-depth discussion series and hands-on civics of Agora and New Leaders. City Club’s ability to inspire engaging, challenging dialogue is unmatched, and the Club thrives today due to the strong financial support of its members and community.

You may be surprised to learn that membership dues provide only 40 percent of our net revenues. To cover programming expenses, the Club relies on additional gifts, which make up one in every four dollars in our annual budget.

Rising to this fundraising challenge, the Board of Governors will contribute over $10,000 for the 2011-2012 Annual Fund, and they invite you to join them.

The Club needs your help to reach our goal of $100,000.
