City Club’s founders were citizens of action.
When they started our Club in 1916, they worked together to solve problems for the common good. Over the last century, the City Club of Portland has grown and evolved to reflect the values and temperment of the times, but it has never strayed from the member-driven model that has enabled it to thrive for nearly 100 years.
We are still a Club that spurs citizens to action.
Today, when a few powerful voices can dominate the political dialogue, more and more people are depending on organizations like City Club for unbiased information and thoughtful debate.
As members we are responding by creating programs and conducting research on the truly important issues in our community. We are convening people and organizations of divergent beliefs to listen, learn and lead in crafting creative solutions to the challenges we face and advocating for their adoption.
It Takes an army of civic-minded people, like YOU!
City Club brings together civic-minded people to make Portland and Oregon better places to live, work and play for everyone.
With only four staff and a very lean, efficient budget, City Club provides organizational support for over 200 volunteers who dedicate more than 6,000 hours of service every year.
In addition to writing nationally recognized research reports and recommendations, City Club members produce over 150 events a year for 10,000 attendees. They are heard state-wide on Oregon Public Broadcasting, and they focus on informing the community on matters of local and global significance
- Remember, membership dues cover only 40% of our operating expenses. We rely on YOU to help us cover the rest.
Please join your community in supporting City Club with your gift - no amount is too small!
