New eyes often bring fresh perspectives to an issue. These new viewpoints can result in great changes when the issues are those – like health care, transportation or the economy – that affect our daily lives, and when those newcomers have the power to shape public policy.
On September 11, City Club welcomes four young state representatives who will share their experiences as first-time legislators or as committee chairs. They will discuss whether young leaders tend to think differently – or have different policy preferences – than their older counterparts. They will address their experiences working with legislators on the other side of the aisle, and will talk about both the opportunities and pitfalls of near total control by the party which they represent. The panel may also offer its thoughts on lobbying, vote-trading and the effectiveness and transparency of the current legislative process.
Please join City Club as we welcome Representatives Jules Kopel Bailey of District 42, Chris Garrett from District 38, Tobias Read of District 27 and Ben Cannon from District 46 to discuss their views of the 75th legislative session.
