In single-payer health care, a public entity - most often the government - finances the delivery of health care to a nation's citizens. Medicare is an example of single-payer health care. This system has been hotly debated in the struggle over reforming America's health care coverage and many still believe that it is the best option. Join City Club's Agora committee for a panel discussion about single-payer health care, the current status of health care reform and an analysis of where America could go from here.
Panel participants are:
• Dr. Oliver Fein, president of Physicians for a National Health Program
• Dr. Robert Dannenhoffer, immediate past president of the Oregon Medical Association
• Dr. Rajiv Sharma, PSU associate professor of economics specializing in health economics
• Eric Fruits, Ph.D., policy analyst, Cascade Policy Institute
Moderated by Dr. Paul Gorman, Physicians for a National Health Program. Co-sponsored by Providence Portland Internal Medicine Residency Population Based Health Elective.
