We rely upon volunteer members to create our signature programs and publications. If you’re a City Club member, there are many opportunities for you to participate and help further our mission. For example:

Do you want to help shape policy conversations, educate the community or meet a diverse array of fascinating people?

Suggest a topic for a Friday Forum, Agora or New Leaders event.  Think about what topics you'd like to explore; others are likely to share your interests.

If you are ready to do more, you can join one of the member-led committees that plan and develop our signature events.  Learn more about each committee, how to suggest a topic and who is already a member, via the following links:

Do you want to help shape public policy recommendations?

City Club's Research Program provides many volunteer opportunities that allow you to delve deeply into a topic.  You become the policy expert who asks all the questions!

If you want to get involved, you can suggest a study topic.

You can also serve on a ballot measure study committee or a research study committee.  Check out the Research Board for more information on current opportunities.

Do you want to help advocate on a City Club research report?

After research reports are approved by City Club members, advocacy committees are often formed to help advance the recommendations of the reports.

You can join this effort by serving on an advocacy committee, joining an advocacy event or serving on the Advocacy and Awareness Board.   Check out the Advocacy & Awareness Board to find more about current opportunities and to learn more about this work.

Do you want to help promote City Club to the community, greet new members and help with the organization?

Many volunteers enjoy helping run the organization.

If you enjoy meeting new people, serving on the Membership Committee means that you could be:

  • greeting new members at a Friday Forum or a Final Friday,
  • helping to formulate member benefits, or
  • serving as an ambassador of the Club at events.

Others might enjoy fundraising by serving on the Development Committee or making phone calls during the Annual Fund Drive.   Volunteers help with fundraising means that we are able to continue to provide all the programs and services members enjoy.

And those with financial and management expertise serve as stewards of The Club's fiscal resources on the Finance Commitee.

For more information about volunteer opportunities, don't hesitate to contact a committee chair or staff person.  We'd love to help find the right place for you.
