The Club's endowment funds represent faith in its future. Contributed by members and stewarded by the Oregon Community Foundation, they provide reliable annual support to the Club's operations. As a key to the Club's long-term fiscal stability, they help ensure that its work continues in perpetuity.
The General Endowment, established in the 1950's, currently holds over $250,000. Annual distributions at 4.5% supplement the Club's annual fund-raising and deliver a consistent amount to the overall operating budget.
The Research Endowment, established in 2008, currently holds over $500,000. Annual distributions at 4.5% directly support the Club's research efforts. The initial funds were contirubted by over 100 members and friends in memory of Ogden Beeman, former Club president and champion of research, with a substantial match from his family.
These endowments grow over time, helped in part by members of the Legacy Society - those who have generously included the Club in their estate plans.
The Club's endowments are managed under policies adopted by the Club's Board of Governors, which guide their investment and spending. Since 1998 the Club's endowment funds have been held by the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) in its main long-term investment pool. The OCF board sets the annual distribution rate.
