Citizens Read: What We Love Will Save Us by David Oates

AUTHOR ATTENDING
This short collection of intensely personal essays portray both the author's outrage and discouragement during the Bush-Cheney years and his countering quest for hope and optimism by searching out the beauty in life, be it in nature, creative activity or a sidewalk cafe.
Author David Oates has lived in Portland since 1992 and has written both nonfiction and poetry about nature and the urban environment. He is a tenured professor at Clark College and also teaches at Marylhurst University. He discussed his book City Limits at Citizens Read in 2006.
In order to promote a lively discussion, Citizens Read encourages everyone to read the book prior to the meeting. David will bring copies of this and his other books for purchase for friends and family after the discussion.
This event is open only to City Club members and their guests. An RSVP is required. Please contact amy@pdxcityclub.org or call 503-228-7231 x110 with your name, contact information and the number of guests (if any) that you will be bringing.
