Building a green future
On Friday, April 20, Jason McClennan and Dennis Wilde join City Club to discuss green building and sustainability, the impacts locally and nationally and what they perceive to be trends in green architecture.
McClennan will be speak from a national and regional perspective about what is next in sustainability, while Wilde will provide an insider’s view as a developer. They will also discuss global warming, “The 2010 Imperative,” creating a framework to evaluate sustainable materials, the need for green design in both new buildings and older structures and how sustainability is fast becoming a new industry standard.
McLennan is a nationally recognized leader in the sustainable building industry for his work as executive director of the Cascadia chapter of the US Green Building Council. He is also a former principal at BNIM, an architecture firm in Kansas City. Wilde has more than 20 years of experience in urban planning and design, and has been active in construction and real estate development since 1967. Currently a principal for Gerding Edlen, he serves on the board of the Oregon Natural Step Network.
