The recent U.S. Supreme Court confirmation process of Hon. Sonia Sotomayor has been a learning experience for many Americans. However, there is much more to the process than merely what we see on television or read in the papers and magazines. This event features speakers whose considerable knowledge of the process and the political landscape promises to make for a stimulating program. They will cover the history of U.S. Supreme Court confirmations, share personal experience with the federal confirmation process and discuss the politics surrounding the confirmation hearings.

The Hon. Susan Graber is a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit bench. She previously served on Oregon’s Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Graber graduated from Yale Law School and was a partner at Stoel Rives for a number of years prior to joining the bench.

Robert Klonoff is Dean and Professor of Law at Lewis & Clark Law School. He graduated from Yale University Law School. Previously, he was a professor at the Kansas City School of Law, partner at Jones Day in Washington, D.C. and served in various positions at Georgetown University Law Center and University of San Diego School of Law, among others.
