Since January 2011, Tunisia has taken center stage as the country whose revolution triggered a wave of revolt that swept through the Arab world and beyond. The “Jasmine Revolution,” a sudden and explosive wave of street protests, ousted Tunisian president Zine el- Abidine Ben Ali, an authoritarian leader whose repressive rule lasted 23 years, forcing him to flee the county.
