Portland Transportation: Today & Tomorrow

Bikes, pedestrians, cars, transit and freight: the mix on Portland streets is a constant cause of concern and action. From bikeshare to Vision Zero, unsafe arterials to potholes on neighborhood streets, there is a lot at stake and a lot to do. How do we create a system that is safe, well-maintained, and suitable for everybody? After nearly a year on the job, Portland Bureau of Transportation Director Leah Treat will share some of her lessons, plans, and inspirations in this unique Tuesday lunchtime presentation. Co-presented with the Oregon Active Transportation Summit. Lunch tickets are $23. This event is open to the public. Reservations must be made by Friday, April 18 at noon.

Leah Treat was appointed Director of the Portland Bureau of Transportation in July 2013 by City Commissioner Steve Novick after a nation-wide search. Treat came to Portland from Chicago where she was appointed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel to serve as Managing Deputy Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation, helping instigate significant downtown revitalization efforts and the City's first protected bikeway network. Previously, Treat worked for the Government of the District of Columbia for over 12 years, including serving as Deputy Director for the Department of Transportation.
