Our founding principles

City Club of Portland, established in 1916, is dedicated to promoting civic education, community service, and leadership development. Through public forums, debates, community-based research, and advocacy, we address important issues in the Portland area, the state, and society as a whole. We provide an impartial, nonpartisan platform, ensuring that our programming and research reflects the varied perspectives and voices within our community.

Our governance structure

City Club is member-led organization. All of our programs and research efforts are thoughtfully designed and implemented by members, with the support of our dedicated staff. Committees and boards coordinate the activities of the Club. Members elect the Board of Governors, which serves as the steward of City Club’s mission and values.

Our financials

As an Oregon membership corporation, City Club of Portland is accountable to its members. Through current financial reporting, annual reports to members, and the filing of Forms 990 with the IRS, we report our fiscal and operational status to members and the community.
